Having a strong foundation in kindergarten sets up our students to do well in first grade, which of course, rolls over into second and third grades. Most of our students can read by the time they enter first grade and reading development continues to be a strong emphasis as they master letter sounds and phonemic rules, read short stories with developing fluency, deepening comprehension, and discovering a love for reading. Writing takes on more emphasis as they increase their vocabulary, express thoughts in written form, and punctuate their sentences. In math, students learn to count to 500, tell time, master addition and subtraction facts, add and subtract, and evaluate the value of money. Spiritually, students are encouraged to develop a personal relationship with Jesus and are trained in their relationships with one another.
